Christian Counselling
Christian Counselling is a hybrid approach which utilizes all the other theories and approaches, all within the Christian world view. As such, Christian values and ethics are the lens through which all methods and theories are assessed.
My doctoral work was in Christian counselling, so I am comfortable with this approach. At the same time, my personal approach is always one of being respectful and open to the client’s interpretation of what Christianity means to them and how they live their life. What that means in practice is that self determination is still central to any and all discussions within the sessions, whether they be individual or couple counselling.
In the interest of full disclosure, I continue to study ministry, theology and the scriptures at the graduate level. Despite this, I continue to see myself as a student of the Word and a work in progress.
I have had the privilege of working with clients using Christian counselling within the context of addiction counselling, couple counselling and individual counselling in private practice and community- based family counselling centres.
